The Official Release of the Central Region East Regional Aleph Godol

Volume 1 Issue 1                                                 September 1997

Shalom Y’all

Shalom to all of you enthusiastic chapter Godols, and let me once again congratulate you on your being elected to the most important position that any Aleph can attain. This newsletter serves the sole purpose of providing you any and all information that you will need to be Godol. Hopefully it will give you a better understanding of what your job is and some helpful advice. Otherwise, it will make damn fine toilet paper for you to use at your leisure. Now on to my precious advice.

Your Job As Chapter Godol

Speaking from my experience of having been Godol of Sondra Moore BBYO, I can tell you that serving as a chapter president will be one of the most fulfilling experiences of your life. I must warn you though, it doesn’t just happen that way. Being chapter president, you have the luxury to make whatever you want to of your job. I’ll give you my view of the three major aspects of your job.

Regional Liaison

You are lucky enough to be able to correspond with me! I promise I’ll try to call each of you as much as possible, but it might be difficult. I am encouraging you (begging you) to keep in constant contact with me, because I won’t always be able to get in touch with you. Feel free to call me anytime that you have a problem, or if you want to brag about some of your accomplishments. Even if you just want to shoot the shit, I’ll be happy to hear from you. Remember that you can also email me. I am now on AOL under the name CRERAG. Don’t forget your chapter reports for Regional meetings, and of course your Midyear reports.

  Role Model

I firmly believe that this is the most important part of your job. Not only do you set the tone in your chapter, but you have a great effect on the attitude in the region. Remember, people look up to you. Don’t get an ego, but be as outgoing as you possibly can. You’ve worked hard to get here, now your job is to give back all you’ve gotten and be someone whom people will respect and admire. Harry Chapin put it best when he said, "There’s a time and place for everything and a way it should be done. You’ve got to show concern for everyone else because you’re not the only one."

That’s enough preaching for now. Remember that this isn’t all you can do with your position. The opportunities are unlimited. Good luck, and may the Schwartz be with you.

Membership
This year we are going to have a thrust for membership. I would like all of you to work on bringing your chapter membership up and increasing involvement of members. This is vital for our region. We have been decreasing in membership in the past few years. This has to stop now! All of your Morehs have been contacted by Jason Torban, our Regional Moreh. You can find him on AOL at CREMoreh.
